Funding tells you who is crowded, not where price goes. Check who is actually long and where the forced exits sit before you trade it.
How to use BNB funding
- As a cost. The rate is taken every funding period you hold, so a swing held for a week pays it many times before it has a profit.
- As a crowd meter. Above ~0.03% per period the long side is crowded; past 0.1% it is a squeeze waiting for a catalyst. Confirm with positioning.
- As yield. Cash and carry collects the rate delta-neutral; the basis per venue tells you if the trade is still there.
- Not as direction. Positive funding through an entire uptrend is normal. The tell is funding flipping while price does not.
