A liquidity pool is a smart contract holding two assets that traders swap against, priced by a formula rather than an order book. Liquidity providers deposit both sides and earn fees; traders move the price by changing the pool's ratio. Pool depth decides slippage, and on memecoins the pool's size is the only real number on the chart.

A constant-product pool with $50K of a token and $50K of SOL has $100K of liquidity; a $5K buy moves the price about 10%, a $50K buy roughly doubles it. That is why liquidity against market cap is the first flag on our meme tape — a $2M market cap resting on $30K of liquidity is a number one seller can erase. Whether the liquidity is locked or burned decides whether the deployer can withdraw it, which is the rug pull.

On graduated pump.fun tokens the pool is created at graduation with the bonding-curve proceeds, which is why our scanner reads a graduation as a real pool of at least $5,000. Read every DEX chart with the pool beside it: price is an output of the ratio, so a chart with no liquidity behind it is a picture of a formula, not of demand.
